Vegan carob chip cookies for dogs

This is my second round of baking dog treats.  My dogs always want my chocolate vegan and gluten-free brownies, but sadly dogs can’t eat chocolate

I created a recipe of dog-friendly “chocolate” chip cookies for my dogs.  Instead of chocolate chips, I used vegan carob chips from Earthfare.  Carob is a safe chocolate alternative for dogs.  I found them in the baking supplies aisle.  I also picked up some organic unsweetened coconut flakes for future recipes.

These cookies were easy to make.  I made oat flour by putting oats in the food processor and grinding them until they reached the consistency I needed.  I also included a little bit of flax-seed to bind the dough together.

Before heading into the oven:

Leela and Cassie patiently waited for the cookies to bake.  Even my cat Marwan wanted to investigate!

Not only do they taste yummy (according to my dogs, and yes I had a little taste), they made my apartment smell great while baking

Vegan mac and cheese treats for dogs

Today I started making my first flavor of dog treats for Leela Town Treats.  I will try not to monopolize this blog with adventures in vegan dog treats, but I can’t help but show off a few pictures

I came up with this recipe because I LOVE mac and cheese.  LOVE IT.  Especially the vegan and gluten-free kind.  I love mac and cheese now more than ever, even when I wasn’t vegan and could eat all that gooey cow’s milk cheese.  (If you haven’t seen my recipe for vegan and gluten-free mac and cheese, click here!)

These treats were somewhat difficult to make (and messy!) but Leela and Cassie like them so far.  And yes, I even tried a few, since they are vegan and gluten-free.  Not bad!

These are approximately the size of a mini-cupcake.

They look just like real mac and cheese, but much cuter.

Leela Town Treats – vegan treats for your dog

I just wanted to let everyone know how excited I am to finally get started on my own business.  Leela Town Treats has been a dream of mine for quite some time now.  As a vegan, I live a lifestyle where I aim to minimize exploitation of animals and lessen unnecessary violence.  I often wondered how I could take the next step with the diet of my dogs and cats.

My beloved dog Leela recently began a semi-vegan diet thanks to my friend Eric and his helpful information about vegan dog foods.

And because of my love for my dog Leela and her friend Cassie, I came up with a business plan.  I will create healthy and wholesome vegan dog treats for dogs everywhere!

These treats will be created from my own simple and nutritious vegan recipes.  Leela Town Treats will have non-traditional but 100% dog approved flavors, so say ‘goodbye!’ to bacon, beef, and meat by-products!

An Etsy page is in the works, and I purchased basic baking supplies tonight.  Tomorrow I start with the first trial flavor, a playful interpretation of mac and cheese crafted especially for dogs.  P.S. these treats are cheese-free, but don’t let your babies know!
